You can make phone calls on the Internet:

1) Go to Download.com:
2) choose the Category "VOIP" and
3) download the program you choose.
Look for the cost per minute (after Trial). Some of them sell info about you.

Skype is the most popular.
AdCalls is FREE, with ads.
[possibly lousy sound quality at 2 cents a minute, drop-offs, etc].
Personally, I buy an AT&T Phone card from Sam's Club and get 3.5 cents per minute when away from home, in the US, instead of 2 cents a minute from an Internet Phone company.
